Poster, Poster, and Another Poster

"The Challengers" have also been reading.  They broke up into 3 groups and each group read a different book.   Their idea was to create a poster that would be an advertisement for their book.  They want to challenge the other middle school students to try out these books and let us know what you think.  I think they did an awesome artsy job on the posters.....way to go gang!

As Good As Hollywood

Castle Rock's latest round of the Book Wars brings on the video book trailers.  Videos worthy of Hollywood will have you wanting to read these books.  Way to go Night Readers.

The afternoon book club "Night Readers" has started a Book War. Follow along as we battle between the two books, ultimately declaring a winner as the "Best Book". Of course, there will be many discussions, battles, and heated debates on the topic of "Best Book" and we look forward to our year of discovery and the multiple "Best Books" we find. Now, for our first battle........ Battle of the Posters........... take a look, and you decide - who is the winner. Poster A

Fault In Our Stars

Quite a few students read "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green at the end of the school year. I think that it is pretty unanimous that this book was a highlight of the year for many. It also became the "Have to Read This Summer" book for those who haven't read it yet. Here are a few highlights and thoughts:

Fun with iPads

One of the fun activities that we did together this year was to create videos, book trailers, and picture collages based on some of the books that we read and enjoyed. I think that the expressions on the faces tells you how much everyone enjoyed this.

Neil Gaiman

We have had a lot of discussion about Neil Gaiman and his books.  I hope that you have found time to read at least one of them.  This is your opportunity to ask other students about their thoughts and feelings about his books and share ideas you might have.  I think that we have a unique chance to be able to listen to this author and see what his thoughts are about his writing.  Even if you don't get to go and see him, this is your chance to share your thoughts.  So........what do you think?
