One of my favorite books this year has been "Between Shades of Gray" by Ruta Sepetys. When I first mention the title, many people raised their eyebrows and wondered what type of books I was asking my book clubs to read. But this book is not what you think - it is a historical fiction story that takes you into a little-known event in history. This is the story of 15 year old Lina, a Lithuianian girl who is sent to a work camp in the coldest reaches of Siberia during World War II. This is a "survival" story in every sense of the word and one that will truly make you realize just what it takes to be a survivor.
